SOFTWARE ENGINEER III

We are seeking a Software Engineer III who will utilize their expertise to develop new software while extending the capabilities of Syntech’s existing product line.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs analysis and design of new features; troubleshoots issues with existing products.
  • Adds features to existing products and maintain software artifacts.
  • Debugs software to identify and resolve isolated issues.
  • Tests software, firmware, and associated hardware and systems.
  • Assists with establishing and guiding peers in development methodology practices and procedures.
  • Develops documentation for all testing, troubleshooting and development efforts.
  • Actively participates in analysis and design sessions.
  • Assists with research efforts in support of engineering initiatives as well as stakeholder requests.
  • Shares job knowledge with junior developers; provides ongoing mentorship and support as needed to ensure success.
  • Troubleshoots issues and assists customers with solving system problems.
  • Applies best practices with system architecture and frameworks to ensure consistent development across all systems.
  • Supports operational functions such as build, deployment, and production support efforts.
  • Develop proficiency in fueling, fleet, and other core business domain knowledge to help develop software that meets customer and stakeholder requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related field; will consider relevant years’ experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience (within fuel management industry, preferred).
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing interactive applications in Java; consideration given for other object oriented languages (C++, C#).
  • Experience with agile software development methodology and release processes.
  • Proficient in developing web applications using Angular, preferred; consideration given for other web frameworks.
  • Ability to document application-level requirements and specifications.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Able to work within a team environment.
  • Willingness to share industry knowledge and mentor junior developers in best practices and procedures.
