The Software Engineer II will work collaboratively with other engineers to develop, maintain and configure our reporting infrastructure and its integration with Syntech’s enterprise fuel and fleet management systems.


  • Collaborates with fellow engineers in the analysis and design of new reports utilizing reporting tools such as JasperReports or Crystal Reports.
  • Writes, designs, develops, and builds new reports; troubleshoots issues with existing reports.
  • Provides ongoing maintenance of reports in an effort to extend our existing reporting capabilities.
  • Tests and debugs software, firmware, and associated hardware and systems to identify and resolve application issues.
  • Writes and proactively maintains technical documentation for all testing, troubleshooting, and development efforts.
  • Troubleshoots and assists customers in solving system problems.
  • Maintains software artifacts and add features to products.
  • Stays current on industry trends and continuously updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment.
  • Participates in educational opportunities and professional organizations in an effort to grow knowledge base and maintain professional network.
  • Supports operational functions such as research, build, deployment, and production to support engineering efforts.
  • Applies development best practices and procedures with system architecture and frameworks to ensure consistent development across all systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • BS (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related field; will consider relevant knowledge and experience in lieu of degree.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodology and release processes.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL is a plus.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as JasperReports or Crystal Reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
