The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the accounting department in maintaining accurate and timely financial records and reports for the organization.


  • Ensures commercial sales force and distributor commission reports are current and accurate.
  • Performs daily audit and analysis of all commissionable activity.
  • Tracks and organizes relevant data needed to calculate compensation.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly/annual reports of sales incentives, performance incentives and special bonus plan.
  • Maintains documentation of calculations, adjustments, payouts and reconciled items.
  • Utilizes our accounting software system to ensure service orders and the relative commissions due are correctly recorded while also reviewing other order elements, such as the revenue account and pertinent tax items, for accuracy; makes corrections, as needed.
  • Continuously maintains, updates, and balances the unearned revenue account; generates reports, as required.
  • Electronically records and balances state sales tax accounts for monthly processing and reporting.
  • Reviews and processes invoices of vendors, carriers, and auto transportation related service providers.
  • Receives, counts, and balances petty cash while maintaining its control account.
  • Participates in quarterly and annual audits.
  • Ensures accuracy, completeness, efficiency, and conformance to company standards, procedures and applicable laws for all accounts, reports, documents, tasks, and responsibilities required.
  • Learns various accounting functions such as accounts payables and receivables to provide support for completing necessary tasks when needed.
  • Performs various administrative duties, as assigned.


  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field of study preferred; will consider relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience involving state sales tax, revenue accounts, and audits, preferred.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information secure and confidential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Extensive experiencing utilizing a common accounting software system, and working knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices.
  • Ability to perform all accounting and administrative tasks with speed and accuracy; attention to detail, a must.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, employees, and customers.
